The SynCell-nExUs webpage is now live!

SynCell-nExUs is a new MSCA COFUND postdoctoral fellowship programme dedicated to recruiting and training the next generation of leaders in synthetic cell (SynCell) research. Led by the Max Planck Society (MPG) and supported by a network of leading research institutions and industry partners across Europe, SynCell-nExUs will recruit 40 postdoctoral fellows over two calls during the programme.

The first call for applications will open at the end of October 2026.  At that time, applicants will also be able to access detailed information on the application process, evaluation procedure, eligibility requirements, and the documents required for submission.

In the meantime, we invite prospective applicants, collaborators, and members of the synthetic cell research community to explore the SynCell-nExUs web section and learn more about the programme.

SynCell-nExUs offers outstanding postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to develop their own research projects within four major research areas: Metabolism & Energy, Division & Replication, Information Processing & Evolution, and Enabling Technologies. Fellows will benefit from world-class research environments, personalised career development, international and intersectoral secondments, and access to the wider SynCellEU network of researchers working at the forefront of SynCell research across Europe.

On the website you can already:

  • Meet the confirmed supervisors and host institutions
  • Learn about the selection process
  • Find key dates ahead of the launch of the first call for applications

We look forward to welcoming ambitious researchers from around the world to join the SynCell-nExUs community and help shape the future of synthetic cell research.

Stay tuned for the opening of the first call at the end of October!
