Francesco Ricci
Department of Chemistry, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy
”I am a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where I lead a research group working at the interface between DNA nanotechnology, synthetic biology and biosensing. My lab develops dynamic DNA-based devices and systems for probing and controlling biochemical processes in vitro and in complex biological environments. We combine rational molecular design, quantitative biophysics, and cell-free systems to build responsive biomolecular architectures and synthetic condensates. I am strongly committed to mentoring early-stage researchers and to translating fundamental advances into innovative
diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.”
”Within SynCell-nExUs, my group will develop DNA-based condensates and DNA-based synthetic cells that integrate biological inputs (i.e. proteins, antibodies, enzymes) as a way to control phase separation phenomena, chemical communication and reactions. Our goal is to provide programmable “molecular controllers” and condensate-based modules that enable synthetic cells to adapt their behavior, exchange information, grow, fuse and segregate in a predictable and modular way.”
